Loading... Please wait...The biggest mistake that we as believers can make is to assume that we have something good to offer God. There are major differences between the role of a child and the role of a servant. The child has his place in the home because his parents love him, but a servant has his place because of what he does and how he performs. God does not call us His children, then give us a list of things to do as he would a servant. This "list of to-do's" is the main point of religion. Religion is a way to measure our performance. If we are doing good at keeping with the list, we feel we must be better in God's eyes for it. If we are failing in different areas, we feel that God must hate us for that moment. Maybe he is looking down on us, just waiting for that opportunity to punish us.
This is simply not true. We may have to deal with the consequences of our decisions, but God is not interested in how we perform and go through the motions! In that case, there is NOTHING you can do to make God love you less. In the same way, there is nothing you can do to make him love you more. God loves you! So stop trying to live up to or excel over the expectations of a religious system and enter into a RELATIONSHIP with a loving Father! Jesus has completed and closed the Law so that you could.
